Pilotage

General information

The pilot service is performed by the company Zadar pilot d.o.o. from midnight to midnight, on VHF channel 12 or 16.

Mandatory pilotage for all ships over 500 GRT. The position of the internal pilot station for the Port of Zadar is 44° 05.2 N 15° 14.5 E 0.2 Nm west of the green light in the Port of Zadar.

The external pilot station is mandatory for all ships with dangerous cargo – Grujica lighthouse position, 44° 23.3 N, 14° 34.5 E.

The Shipmaster (himself or through an agent) is obliged to announce to the Port Authority the exact time of arrival at the anchorage or the place for loading the pilot at least 1 hour before the arrival of the ship.

After the announcement, the Port Authority is obliged to inform the shipmaster about the place and method of anchoring or mooring.

The anchorage for ships is located southwest of the Istrian coast and is bounded by the following points:

  1. 44° 06.6′ N      15° 10.9′ E
  2. 44° 07.4′ N      15° 12.2′ E
  3. 44° 06.9′ N      15° 13.0′ E
  4. 44° 06.0′ N      15° 12.0′ E

The anchorage for ships transporting dangerous goods is limited by the following points:

  1. 44° 07.7′ N      15° 08.6′ E
  2. 44° 08.4′ N      15° 09.6′ E
  3. 44° 07.8′ N      15° 10.4′ E
  4. 44° 07.2′ N      15° 09.4′ E

The anchorage should be navigated carefully and at minimum speed. If, due to bad weather, the ship’s anchor drops, and as a result it comes into a position of dangerous proximity to another ship, it is obliged to take the necessary actions (raise the anchor) and maneuver so as not to endanger other ships. If, due to a change in the direction of the wind and/or current, two anchored ships come into a position of dangerous proximity, the ship that anchored last must re-anchor.
